    The opening shape may be hexagonal, rectangular, circular, etc.

    Due to opening in web we get some benifit

    • Saving in material
    • Lighter weight
    • Due to increased depth allowed, we get more strengthen beam

    Brick and brick bond both should have the same strength. Because if brick is weak, then brick bond at that time, brick is collapse, and structure cannot remain in stable condition.     Modulus of elasticity is the ration of stress and strain. Another way modulus of elasticity is the stress required to generate unit linear strain. It is denoted by E Steel E =200 GPA Rubber E= 0.01 to 0.1 GPA 1GPA= 1000 n/mm2 So we can say that steel have a higher modulus of elasticity than rubber.

    Modulus of elasticity is the ration of stress and strain.

    It is used at where column load is very high, and we required more depth of footing around column edge to transfer the load and prevent failure of footing, at the time, we provide a pedestal to transfer load safely from column to footing.

    Pedestal is usually used in steel structure where the column load is very high.

    • Now add sand and aggregate and mix it
    • Now add a cement, in hand mixing we required 10% higher cement contain to add
    • Now again mix it,
    • Now make a pond in the mixture
    • Now mix it and make concrete
    • After the concrete used floor should be cleaned by water so stick concrete to floor is removed.

     

    The hand mix is not used today, and it is rarely used in the village area for a small work.

    1. Solids partical
    2. Air
    3. Water

    When water added to soil, at that time soil become saturated. And when air contain replace by water and soil become fully saturated at that time soil have two part one is water and one is solid partical.

     

    If we add more water than fully saturation, hence saturation of soil is 100% or more than that, is called the supersaturated stage.

    Water content more than shrinkage limit called supersaturated stage

    To find SBC there is several several methods like

    • Presumptive sample Analysis
    • Analytical Methods
    • Plate Bearing Test (for settlement & modulus of subgrade reaction)
    • Penetration Test (dcpt cpt etc)
    • Modern Testing Methods (modified test)

     

    In site we use generally penitration test

    In penitration test, 63.5kg hammer are fall from 75cm height free fall and note down reading of penitration

    From penitration we can find SBC.
