__Concept:__

The deflection of the beam under point load is given as,

\(\Delta =\frac{1}{C}\frac{PL^3}{EI}\)

As per the deflection criteria, the deflection in the beam depends upon length to the modulus of elasticity ratio. It means,

\({\rm{Deflection}} = {\rm{\;}}\frac{{{\rm{Length}}}}{{{\rm{Modulus ~of~ elasticity}}}}\)

\(\therefore {\rm{Deflection\;}} \propto {\rm{\;}}\frac{1}{{{\rm{E}}}}\)

So, the **deflection is inversely proportional to the modulus of elasticity.**

Hence, by **increasing the modulus of elasticity** the **deflection** in the beams **can be decreased.**
