The 1,401-foot-tall One Vanderbilt in New York is set to have glass elevators and an observation deck that would offer the highest vantage point in Midtown Manhattan.
One Vanderbilt is a 67-story tower in New York City that opened in 2020 and is the fourth tallest tower in the city of New York.
Situated next to the Grand Central Station, the observation deck atop One Vanderbilt will be directly connected to the Grand Central Terminal to make it an easy access point.
The observation deck, called Summit One Vanderbilt, will be spread across 65,000 square feet (6,038 m) over four stories of the tower. The Summit One Vanderbilt will welcome visitors from 21 October 2021.
The attraction is divided into three sections, namely, Ascent, Levitation, and Summit.
The Ascent is a glass elevator with a transparent floor designed to take guests to a height of 1,210 feet (369 m). Levitation will have glass boxes protruding from the side of the skyscraper that would allow visitors to look down over the city from a height of 1,063 feet (324m).
The Summit will be the observation deck with tall glass perimeter walls and an open-air bar. It will include an outdoor bar, seating zones, and the highest outdoor alpine meadow in the world.
The interiors for the building are designed by Snøhetta and will comprise a landscape garden along with an immersive art experience.
