    Poisson’s Ratio:

    1. The metal bar length increases in the direction of applied force when a tensile force is applied to it. The width of the same metal bar decreases in the direction perpendicular to the applied force.

    2. The metal bar length increases in the direction of applied force when a tensile force is applied to it. The width of the same metal bar decreases in the direction perpendicular to the applied force.

    3. The Poisson’s ratio indicated the relationship between change in length and width.

    4. Poison’s ratio is to measure the elastic property of a material.

    Helical reinforcement is capable of protecting columns or piles against seismic loads.     Helical reinforcement is capable of protecting columns or piles against seismic loads.

    Whenever the column reaches the failure condition, then concrete outside hoops will crack & it falls off first, followed by the whole columns’ eventual failure.


    The more important thing is the peeling off of concrete outside helical reinforcement provides a warning signal suddenly just before the failure of columns.


    Which can take up the highest working load as compare to normal link reinforcement.

    10. Landslides or settlement of Sub-base soil due to over drainage.
    11. Soil with less bearing capacity.
    12. Errors in structural design.
    13. Inferior quality of cement and integrants is used.
    14. Use after the expiry of the life of buildings.
    15. Maintenance not done properly.
    16. Proper Foundation not provided.
    17. Less amount of reinforcement provided.

    The rate analysis varies from place to place & it depends on the cost of construction material as well as labor cost. Roughly, we can say Ru. 134 per Cft. Required when PCC of 1:4:8 is used.
