    For the conversion, you need to know the density of laterite which is around 1019 kg/m³. So, basically it is 1.019 tonnes per cubic meter.

    You can measure the density of soil with the help of different test as mentioned in IS code.

    After getting density you can use the formula:

    Density = Mass/Volume

    You know density and volume, you will get Mass out of it

    IS code gives various tests to measure the density of materials.

    Calculate the density of laterite.

    It is approx. 1019kg/m^3.

    Using formula:

    Density = mass/ volume

    • Result: 1 kg/m^3 = 10^-3 tonne.
    • 1.019 tonnes per m^3

    Laterite weighs 1.02 gm/cm³ or 1,019 kg/m³., i.e. density of Laterite is equal to 1,019 kg/m³.

    ∴ 1,019 kg/m³ = 1.019 t/m³

    Laterite is a rock and soil type substance which contain a high amount of iron and aluminium. It is commonly formed in hot and wet tropical areas.

    • Mass Density of Laterite = 1019 kg/ m3

    • 1 metric ton=1000kg

    • Hence,  1m3 laterite = 1.019 metric ton

    Thank You.
