    Explain the construction & use of New Mark’s influence chart?

    Hi DevilAVRT,

    Newmark’s influence chart is used to determine the vertical pressure underside of uniformly loaded flexible areas for any shape of soil.

    This method is derived from the Boussinesq’s equation for point load by integration.

    Construction and applications:

    Newmark’s influence chart is constructed by constructing a concentric circle. When the circles are equally by drawing radially lines, which are equally spaced. The radius of the circle is R/z values.

    1. z is the depth below to uniformly loaded area where increasing stress is obtained
    2. Today call length of chart B, plot the top view our plan for the loaded area of the corresponding scale.
    3. Newmark’s influence chart place over the point where the stress is determined by locating the center of the chart.
    4. Count the number of elements and the portion of the chat enclosed by the plan of the loaded area.

    Hi devilart, This method is used to compute the vertical and horizontal stresses of any shape ,irregular geometry below any point outside or inside

    The chart as shown in the above figure essentially consists of n no. of radial lines and m no. of concentric circles.

     

    To find out vertical stress at any point below or outside the loaded area, Plan of the loaded area is drawn such that depth Z at which stress is being computed equals the length AB as shown on

    N = No. of blocks. Bina Nusantara.

    Further, the plan is placed over influence chart such that the point below which stress is required coincides with the center of chart Then count the number of influence area (N) covered by the plan
