There are no standard sizes for various rooms in residential building, but there is a recommendation by Indian Standard, so here I discuss some of them.

It is very important to have knowledge of standard dimensions and size required for various parts of buildings. This helps in proper planning of a building making spaces for movement, ventilation, and sunlight for the residents.
Town and Country Planning Organisation, Ministry of Urban Development, has published Model Building Bye Laws 2016 for minimum requirements for various parts of building which are as follows:
Part 4 – General Building Requirements and Services:
Different rooms serves a particular purpose and considering above guidelines, Standard size of Rooms in Residential Building can be planned as follows:
Minimum – 3.0m x 3.6m = 10.8 m2 or 10ft. x 12ft. = 120 sqft.
Maximum β 4.2m x 4.8m = 20.16 m2 or 14ft. x 16ft. = 224 sqft.
Minimum – 4.2m x 4.8m = 20.16 m2 or 14ft. x 16ft. = 224 sqft.
Maximum β 5.4m x 7.2m = 38.88 m2 or 18ft. x 24ft. = 432 sqft.
Minimum – 3.0m x 3.6m = 10.8 m2 or 10ft. x 12ft. = 120 sqft.
