Waterproofing is most important to increase the life of the pavement. The following are some materials or admixtures used globally for waterproofing of cement concrete roads as well as bitumen pavement.
But to make the road pavement waterproofing ensure that the mix did properly and provide enough camber to remove water from the road surface. It is the cheapest and most economical method to make road pavement waterproof.
The below material are generally used for waterproofing of road construction.
1. Bituminous polymer polymeric Albizol
2. Mastic bitumen rubber
3. Mastic bitumen-polymer
4. Bitumen-polymer hermetic
5. Mastic gluing (Vishera)
6. Mastic bitumen rubber
7. Mastic Hot Bituminous Rubber
The materials used for water proofing in road construction are as follows :-
2. Cementitious coating
3. EPDM Rubber
5. Roofing felt
6. Mastic Asphalt
8. Sheet water proofing membrane
9. PVC water proofing membrane
10. Liquid applied membrane
Generally, for cheap and on-site production of waterproofing, a combination of aggregate chippings and aggregate dust is combined with bitumen emulsion and is completely laid over the constructed road. The emulsion itself can vary in type.
Other than this, there are waterproofing solutions manufactured for roads (bituminous roads). Some common ingredients that I know are :
There may be more, but these are a few common ones.
