    Generally, there are two types of traverse surveys.
    Open and closed traverse.
    And we can use open traverse for road construction.

    Open traverse surveys may extend for long distances without the opportunity to check the accuracy of the ongoing work. That’s why we can use and prefer open traverse

    Open Transverse surveying may extend for the long-distance without the formation of large errors. Thus for the road construction, open Transverse survey preferred over closed Transverse survey.

    Following are two methods of surveying:

    1. Open Transverse
    2. Closed Transverse

    Following are the transversing methods

    1. Transversing by chain
    2. Transversing by compass
    3. Transversing by theodolite
    4. Transversing by plane table

    Traverse surveying is a method to establish control networks. Traverse networks involve placing survey stations along a line or path of travel, and then using the previously surveyed points as a base for observing the next point.

    There are two types of traverse surveying , they are:

    1. Closed traverse: When the lines form a circuit that ends at the starting point, it is known as a closed traverse.

    2. Open traverse: When the lines form a circuit ends elsewhere except the starting point, it is said to be an open traverse.

    So, for the construction of road projects open traverse is used because in this we can extend roads for infinite distances.
