Settlement of spread footing foundation under loads

If we have two spread footing foundation (Isolated Pads) of square sizes

(1m x 1m) and (2m x 2m),with axial loads ; (10t) and (40t) respectively, by assuming the soil features and specification for the two pads ,is the same ,

So which of them will settled more or the settlement will be equal for both? and why?

  1. Equations of Applicable codes can be used to calculate the deflection of these two pad foundation since they are the same except their dimension and load magnitude.

It can be estimated roughly that, the settlement of the second one would be twice the first one; the dimension of the second one is doubled whereas its imposed load is quadrupled.
